Armand Uva Obituary
1936 - 2025
Lynn - Armand P. "Sonny" Uva, age 88, of Lynn, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 27, 2025. He was the husband of the late Amelia C. "Mimi" (Picariello) Uva. Born in East Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Aurelio and Natalina (Sicuriello) Uva. He had lived in Swampscott, MA, for most of his life and graduated from Swampscott High School, class of 1955. He also enjoyed spending winters at his home in St. Petersburg, FL, for over 30 years.
Sonny had served in the United States Army Reserve. A lifelong entrepreneur, he owned and operated Swampscott-based Uva's Texaco service station with his father and brother, Tony. He and Tony also owned Uva's Restaurant in Swampscott for fourteen years, where he managed the business and worked as head chef until its sale in 1986. Sonny was a car enthusiast, an avid Boston sports fan, and an Italian music buff. He loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. His greatest joy came from time spent with family and his beloved dog, Bailey. Sonny will be remembered for his personality, quick wit, and humor.
He is survived by his two sons, John J. Uva and his wife Jamie and Scott M. Uva and his wife Mariflor; five grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Zane, Michael and his significant other Andreana, Gabriel, Ian, and Isabella; his great-grandson, Nathan; his sister, Nancy Stapleton and her husband Robert; his sister-in-law, Mary Uva; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Tony and Tommy Uva.
Service Information: His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 9AM from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St (Rt 1A), Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM in Holy Family Church, 26 Bessom St., Lynn. Burial will be in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday, May 5, 2025, from 4-8PM.
