Michael Foutes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goldman Funeral Chapel - Malden on Jan. 10, 2026.
Michael Foutes, 57, of Swampscott, MA, passed away on January 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

Born in Salem, MA, Mike was the loving son of Renate Huxley and Andrew Foutes. He was a lifelong resident of Swampscott and graduated from Swampscott High School in 1986. He was a talented hockey player and All-Scholastic football player. Mike earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mike was a Senior Vice President and the Head of the North America Asset Manager Relationship Management Team at State Street Corporation. He worked in financial services and client management for over 25 years. He was also on the board of directors for the Expect Miracles Foundation, an organization that awards millions of dollars in grants for groundbreaking cancer research and provides financial support to those in cancer treatment.

Mike was the devoted husband of Hilary Wallace Foutes for 30 years. He was the adored father of Madeleine Foutes (24) and Laine Foutes (21); the dear son-in-law of Leone and the late Robert Wallace; and brother-in-law of Kerri Wallace. He will also be missed by Bowie, the family dog, his extended family, including Karen Foutes and Linda Fialkoff, friends, and colleagues.

Mike was an exceptional home cook. He loved preparing Sunday family dinners, barbequing, and making breakfast for his three girls. Mike treasured the family's annual trips to Martha's Vineyard. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and colleagues. He was an avid reader with a thirst for knowledge. Mike coached both of his daughters in youth soccer and loved watching them play as they grew up. Mike was a lifelong Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics with family and friends.

A memorial tribute honoring Mike will be held at Danversport Yacht Club (161 Elliott Street, Danvers, MA) on Sunday, January 18 from 12-3 PM. The memorial service will begin promptly at 12:15 PM.

Expressions of sympathy in Mike's memory may be made to the Expect Miracles Foundation www.expectmiraclesfoundation.org or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation www.themmrf.org.

I was a client of Mike's for many years, and I can say unequivocally that he was an outstanding relationship manager. He brought a great level of knowledge but also care and ownership to each client relationship. He was highly professional and approached his clients with seriousness, high standards of conduct, and exceptional service levels. I extend my sincere condolences to Hilary, Mike's children, and extended family.

So sad to hear of Mike's passing, praying for all his family and friends. I've known Mike for just over 3 years and in that time, he had become a mentor and friend. While my manager, he was such an uplifting person, ready to help at a moment's notice and always giving his time and energy to solve the many problems that come across our desk. May you rest in peace and enjoy Gods glorious embrace.

I had the privilege of working with Mike for just one year, but in that short time, I learned so much from him. Mike was a man of integrity and kindness. When I joined, he took me under his wing and showed me unwavering support. He often spoke about his family, whom he loved deeply-his face would light up every time. Mike was not only kind but also incredibly smart. I will miss him dearly and will always cherish the lessons he taught me: never give up, keep fighting, and always be kind.

Sending strength and prayers to Mike's family and friends. May you make the trip through grief quickly and slide into the cloud of fond memories easily. He was a thoughtful and transparent manager. I enjoyed working with and for him over 10 years at State Street. Our professional loss pales in comparison to that of his family. His legacy lives in our memories and his achievements.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I worked with him at State Street for several years. He was always thoughtful, supportive and a great listener. He was very willing to help others, challenge others and in doing so challenge himself. He will be sorely missed. May his memory be a blessing. Sending heartfelt condolences.

I met Mike when he was 19 years old and we continued the tradition of acting like we were 19 years old, well into our 50s. We played football together at RPI and went on trips to CA-Hollywood, NYC, Las Vegas and many to Lake George. Mike was passionate, but light-hearted and fun. We never stopped laughing when we were together. He was taken too soon and will be greatly missed.
