Armando Campos Sr., age 66, passed away unexpectedly on, Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the family ranch.
Armando was born, April 6, 1958 in Pastura, New Mexico to the home of Pedro Campos and Annie Martinez Campos. He was raised in Santa Rosa New Mexico, where he attended school and graduated in 1977. Armando worked at the TA where he met his wife Nancy Baca. They were married on April 12, 1986.
Armando went on to work alongside his brother Mayo as a jailer with Guadalupe county sheriffs office for 16 years and as a security officer at the Rail yard for 11 years as well as a custodian for Santa Rosa consolidated schools for 12 years until he retired in 2017. He was a hard worker and was always kept busy.
Armando loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing and dancing with his four grandchildren, fishing, camping, working at the ranch, tending to his cattle. He was a collector of “antiquities” and rocks, he loved watching his westerns mainly Gun smoke reruns. We cannot forget the surprise coffee visits with his sisters. He was a great storyteller and his silly voices always made the stories come to life. He loved joking around with anyone he was with. He had many nicknames such as Kool-Aid, Tumbleweed, lights out, and Moo moo Buckaroo just to name a few. He also gave out nicknames to almost everyone that he knew. He loved his faith and made sure that his family attended mass regularly.
Armando is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Annie Campos, his infant sister, Theresa Campos and brother Mayo Campos, Father In Law Camilo Baca, mother-in- law Juana Baca, Brother In Law, Sam Romero, sister-in-law, Mary Lou Campos and nephew Christopher Foust.
He is survived by his beautiful wife, Nancy, and their children, son, Armando and wife, Josefina Campos of Edgewood, daughter, Amanda and husband, Nathan Maestas of Albuquerque, his son, Alonzo Campos and Andrew Pacheco of Albuquerque, and sons, Aaron and Abraham Campos of Santa Rosa, his grandchildren, Nathan Junior, Nova, and Nash Maestas, and Camilo Campos. His siblings, sister, Mary Romero of Las Vegas NM, brother, Leroy and wife, Annie Campos of Santa Rosa, sister, Adela Mata of Santa Rosa, brother, Carlos Campos of Albuquerque, sister, Angie Barba of Belen, brother, Jerry and wife, Connie Campos of Santa Rosa, brother, Arnold Campos of Santa Rosa, sister, Emily and husband, Leonard Foust of Shreveport, Louisiana, sister, Diana Campos of Santa Rosa, sister, Vivian and husband, John Lopez of Santa Rosa, sister-in-law, Virginia Campos of Santa Rosa, brother-in-law, Ernest, Baca of Albuquerque, brother-in-law, Harold and wife, Yolanda Baca of Albuquerque, and sister-in-law, Fabiola and husband, David Martin of Decatur, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 7 PM at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 10 AM at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father, Sotero Sena officiating the service.
Burial will follow at Saint Helens cemetery in Pastura, New Mexico. Serving as pallbearers will be Armando’s sons, Armando Junior, Alonzo, Aaron and Abraham, son-in-law, Nathan, godsons, Michael Mata, Timothy Barba and Adam Martin.
