My wife and I were neighbors of the wonderful "Mr. Armando" (as I used to call him). For many years he would walk by our house in the morning and evening and say hello to our dogs we had at the time. I think every dog in the neighborhood knew Armando. He liked to be friends with everyone and everything. I am sure his walks would have taken half as long as they did if he didn't stop and pet the neighborhood dogs and talk with everyone he met.

He would often stop and talk with me when I was out in the yard or when my wife and I would walk or ride bikes. He was a total ray of sunshine. I can't say I ever saw Armando without him wearing a smile. No matter how he felt, the love he had for people always shone through his face with that smile.

He made so many friends on his walks that when he missed a day or two, people would ask if I had seen him....just to be sure he was OK.

His sense of humor, wit and genuine warmth for anyone he came across was unlike anyone I have ever met. He never had a harsh word on his lips for anyone.

I loved to hear his "sayings" and stories of his life which he readily shared.

There was one thing about Mr. Armando....he always made you feel like he genuinely wanted to know how you were doing. I can still hear him say with that grin on his face, "Big Jim, talk to me. How are you doing?"

Mr. Armando, you were one of a kind. The earth has lost a wonderful soul but Heaven has gained one of the best we had.

Our sincerest condolances to the Sandoval family.

Mr. Sandoval was kind enough to be my patient when I was a student of Dental Hygiene at UNM. He always came with a smile and more patience than I could ask for. He always made time for a joke and a smile. Mr. Sandoval´s faith was not only obvious, but also contagious and I am thankful to God for blessing me with such an acquaintance. He and my husband had a professional, yet joking relationship and he always referred to my husband as "what´s-his-name," and my husband would always refer to Mr. Sandoval as Father Armando because of his fatherly nature. May the soul of Armando Sandoval rest in the peace of Christ.

I often saw Mr. Sandoval at daily Mass at San Clemente - before I entered the Little Sisters of the Poor and after, when I went home to visit my family. I have always been touched by his joyful smile and kind, playful words. Please know of my prayers for him and for all of the family.
