Arnaldo "Arnie" De Leon, a cherished soul known for his humor, love, and handiness, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in
San Antonio, TX. Born on December 13, 1936, in
Mission, TX, to parents Baltazar and Maria Alvarez De Leon, Arnie grew up in a bustling household with a strong sense of family and community.
Arnie attended Mission High School, and developed a work ethic that would serve him well throughout his life. After graduation, he proudly served in the Army, a period of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism. Later, he embarked on a career as an auto parts salesman, a job he excelled at due to his natural people skills and technical knowledge. He also enjoyed volunteering at St. Rita's Church and Catholic School in
San Diego, CA where he spent 50 years of his life there with his wife, daughter, son in law, and oldest grandson before moving back to Texas.
Arnie was a dedicated family man, profoundly devoted to his wife of 50 years, Victoria S. De Leon, who preceded him in death. His love and care for his family knew no bounds. He was a loving father to his daughter, Consuelo Lozoya, and a supportive father-in-law to Felipe Lozoya. As a grandfather, he cherished moments spent with his grandsons, Max and Diego Lozoya, whether it was volunteering as a Watch Dog at their elementary school or simply enjoying their company.
In addition to his immediate family, Arnie is survived by his sister, Alicia Mendiola, sisters-in-law Gloria De Leon and Janie De Leon. He is preceded in death by his brothers Oscar, Baltazar Jr. (Tatay), Armando (Joe), Usvaldo (Wally), along with their wives, and Hipolito (Polo), and Arturo (Art) De Leon, who have all shared a lifetime of memories. His presence will also be deeply missed by his numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Arnie was a man of faith, embracing his Catholic beliefs with quiet strength and conviction. His spiritual foundation guided him through life's challenges and joys, providing comfort and inspiration to those around him.
Music filled Arnie's home and heart, as he loved to listen to tunes of all genres, often while taking care of his beloved grandsons. He was also an avid fan of old cowboy and war movies, a passion that echoed the bravery and adventure he admired in his heroes.
Arnie's sense of humor was unparalleled, often lightening the mood with a well-timed joke or a funny story from his own life experiences. His loving nature was evident in the warmth he extended to all who knew him, and his handiness was a testament to his ability to fix anything, a trait that endeared him to friends and family alike.
Arnie lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his community. His legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to live on through the lives of those he touched. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the joy he brought into the world and the countless memories he leaves behind. Arnie's life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness and the beauty of a life well-lived. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will remain with us, guiding and inspiring us always.
