Arnold Barkow Obituary

Arnold Theodore Barkow, Sr., 95, of Southfield Dr. passed away November 14, 2023, surrounded by loved ones in his home. Born January 8, 1928 in Clintonville, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Carl Adolf Barkow and Barbetta Bauman Barkow. Arnold is predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Lillie Hall Barkow. Survivors include his four children, Steve and his wife Marian, Arnold Jr., Lynda Contreraz and her husband Raul, and Nancy Fields and her husband Eric, as well as 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Mr. Barkow retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of distinguished service and reached the rank of Senior Chief Machinery Repairman; and 20 years working for Sears and Roebuck.

Our family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for the warm and compassionate care he received during his last few weeks. They were very helpful with educating us with the unknowns at this time of life.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in Albert G Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.

So sorry to hear of Mr Arnies passing. My mother and I bowled on a league with him and Mrs Lillie at Indian River Lanes years ago. We ended up neighbors in Arrowhead Beach although I never did see him. May he rest in peace and a happy reunion with Mrs Lillie.
