Rev. Arnold Brown, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, after a short illness. Arnold was born on June 21, 1935, in Union County, Georgia, to Virgil and Lula Brown. He was the youngest of six siblings. Arnold graduated from Towns County High School in 1953, and moved to Atlanta to work for Avon Cosmetics. He retired from Avon after 33 years.
Arnold pastored several churches in the Atlanta area and in North Carolina. After retirement from pastoring, Arnold enjoyed playing his guitar and singing at church. He faithfully taught his Sunday School class until three weeks prior to his death.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 67 years, JoAnne Evans Brown; daughter Patti (Don) Purcell of Smyrna; son Rodney (Erin) Brown of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Emily (Billy) Everett, Will (Georgie) Purcell, Alexandra Brown, and Allison Brown; sister Estelle Henson, several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
The visitation will be at Carmichael Funeral Home, Smyrna, on Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 4:00-6:00pm, and from 1:00-2:00pm on Monday, September 15, 2025. The service will be at 2:00pm on Monday, September 15, 2025, in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Arnold's memory to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home or Samaritan's Purse.
