Arnold (Arnie) John Hanten, age 90 of Platte, SD passed away on October 21, 2025 at the Aurora Brule Nursing Home. Arnold the son of Bernard and Marie (Liebrich) Hanten. Arnold was born on February 23, 1935 in Platte, SD. Arnold attended Rhode Township for elementary and middle school and graduated from Platte High School.

Arnie started working on a ranch in White River, SD after graduation. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 23, 1956 and was discharged on August 22, 1962. He was stationed in the Philippines. After the Marines Arnie worked as a mechanic at Marion's Case Dealership until the dealership closed. Then he farmed and worked as a mechanic at his own business. Arnie enjoyed bowling and activities at church.

Arnie is survived by his sister Mary (Leon) Kleinschmit of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Flora Hanten of Miramar, FL; sixteen nephews, six nieces, great nephews and nieces too many to count, and many, many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Marie Hanten, sisters Eleanor Hanten, Bernadine and Gene Crilly, Gert and Don Moore, and Margene Hanten, brothers Charles and Jackie Hanten, Matt Hanten, and Joseph Hanten, and his niece Nancy.

Memorials to St Peter Catholic Church for Memorial Masses are appreciated or a charity of your choice.

Funeral Services for Arnold Hanten, age 90, of Platte, SD will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St Peter Catholic Church, Platte, SD. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. There is a Rosary service at 6 PM on Sunday evening at the Church with a Wake service starting at 7PM.
