Arthur Calvin “Sonny” Beeler age 79, of Greencastle, PA, passed away peacefully at the Chambersburg Hospital on Monday, November 17, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in Waynesboro, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Arthur B. and Helen Witmer Beeler.
A 1963 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserves. Sonny worked as a dedicated machinist for 42 years at Landis Tool Company, retiring in 2008; Never one to rest long, he continued working for Direct Mail Processors, Inc. for additional 16 years. In his younger years, Sonny was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, and riding his motorcycles. He also loved being a Sunday School teacher at Mt. Tabor Brethren in Christ Church, in Mercersburg, PA. Sonny was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church in Greencastle, PA. He developed a love of painting, cherished his time on the family farm, and found great joy in spending time with his wife and children. Sonny also enjoyed relaxing at home watching his favorite old Western movies.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Carolyn Benchoff Beeler, whom he married on June 4, 1971; two children, Ryan A. Beeler (Ginger Faith) of Mercersburg, PA and Holly D. Poper (husband Scott) of Greencastle, PA; a step grandson, Brandon Poper; and one sister.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and the deep love he held for God and his family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Rev. Herm Fisler will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of one’s choice.
