Mr. Arthur John "Art" Berger, 82, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, in Melbourne, Florida. A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Art lived a life marked by service, dedication, and quiet humor.Born on June 24, 1943, in Queens, New York, Art was the son of Arthur A. Berger and Mary Berger. He grew up in a close-knit family alongside his siblings and graduated from Molloy High School before attending St. John's University. He earned his degree in 1965, laying the foundation for a long and successful career. In 1966, Art answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He served honorably as a Sergeant until 1968 and was stationed in Panama during his military tenure. His time in the Army instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and responsibility that would guide him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Art began what would become a distinguished career at Northrup Grumman. Over more than four decades with the company, he became known for his work ethic and reliability-qualities that earned him the respect of colleagues across generations. Art's faith was central to his life. A devout Roman Catholic, he gave back to his church community by teaching CCD classes to middle school students and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. His commitment to spiritual service reflected the same kindness and humility he brought to every aspect of his life. Outside of work and church, Art found joy in staying active and engaged with the world around him. He was an avid runner and cyclist well into his later years and practiced Tai Chi. He also enjoyed cheering on his beloved New York Yankees and Giants or relaxing with a good movie or television show.
Art had a generous heart and volunteered at Harmony Farms in Florida, where he cared for horses and assisted riders with special needs. His gentle demeanor made him especially well-suited for this role-he offered comfort not only through physical assistance but also through quiet encouragement.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew him best: his daughter Kimberly DelGaudio; his son Arthur Berger II; his sister Jeanne Principe; grandchildren Megan DelGaudio, Caitlyn Berger, Riley Berger, and Crosby Berger; and great-grandson Jameson Morr.He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur A. Berger and Mary Berger, as well as his brother Gerald Berger.May Mr. Arthur John "Art" Berger's memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community, 3050 N. Hwy A1A, Indialantic, FL 32903 on December 4, 2025, from 10:30 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM.
