Obituary published on Legacy.com by John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. - East York on Dec. 7, 2024.
Arthur E. Curtis, 88, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Wednesday, December 4th after a brief illness. He was the loving significant other of Constance (Connie) E. Miklusek of York.
Art was born on November 21, 1936 in Chicago, son of the late Arthur and Caroline (Abbedudo) Curtis. After high school, Art joined the US Army and proudly served for 6 years. While serving abroad in France, Art met his future wife Regine Cherbotowicz; they were married for 58 years until her death in 2016. At the conclusion of his military service, Art and Regine returned to the Chicago area. Art spent the majority of his career in electronic manufacturing; he was a supervisor with Amphenol, starting in Chicago before being transferred to York in 1984. After retirement, Art began volunteering with the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry; he spent countless mornings over many years organizing the deliveries for families in need.
Art loved puttering in the garden, playing cards and dancing. He and Connie were members of several dance clubs, including Phoenix (where he was a past president), York Cotillion, Syncopation and the White Rose Polka Dancers Association. Art was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy, as well as the Viking Club in York, where he and Connie enjoyed many lovely evenings. Most recently, Art and Connie enjoyed line dancing at Golden Connections in Red Lion. Art loved travel and made many trips to France, his late wife's home country, as well as many wonderful trips with Connie over these last five years. He was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Parish and a generous volunteer there, greeting parishioners with Connie, as well as working with the annual seafood dinner fundraisers.
Art is survived by Connie and her family; step-daughter Monique Kamps of Naperville IL, her daughter Tina (Nat) Thompson of Wheaton IL and their children Aiken and Benjamin; brother Jim Curtis and sister Annie Cleveland, as well as several nieces and nephews.
