Arthur S. Doll

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of one of the greats, Arthur S. Doll. Art, 93, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Jean (MacDougall) Doll, passed away on September 20, 2025, after living a long and full life.
Art was born to Joseph H. and Mary E. (Kennedy) Doll in Providence, RI on December 13, 1931, and grew up in Medford, MA. After graduating from Boston University in 1954, he became a pioneer in the computer industry working for the Rand Corporation, NCR and finally COCC, where he served as Executive Vice President.
Art was passionate about many things including his beloved New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox and playing in his family's fantasy football league. He was an avid golfer and was happiest when playing with his favorite foursome, made up of his three sons. Art started each day with a friendly competition with his best friend, Frank Perlitz, to see who could complete the daily Sudoku puzzle first and ended each day with a CC Manhattan (the secret is the cherry juice).
Above all, Art was extremely grateful for his family and was so proud of his children and grandchildren. Besides the love of his life, his bride Jean, Art leaves behind his children, Ellen (Ken), Henry (Lori), Peter (Becky), Megan (Mark), Allyson (Jon); his daughter-in-law Annie; his thirteen grandchildren, Carl (Shannon), Alana (Nick), John (Antoinette), Zack (Ashley), Brittany, Nick (Harpur), Haley, Nathan, Jack, Katherine, Mattie, Elizabeth and Sam; and his six great-grandchildren, Raegan, Colin, Freya, Reed, Faryn and Grant. Art was predeceased by his son Steve, his daughter Kim, his parents and brother, Joseph H. Doll Jr.
The family would like to thank Laura Harrison for her skilled and compassionate hospice care. She has become a beloved member of the family.
Calling hours will be Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford. Burial will be private.
