Arthur Ned Harmon

"Good Grief Holy Snort...Bilgewater"
Arthur "Ned" Harmon, 66, passed away on August 13, 2023, at St. Mark's Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah, with some of his family by his side. He was born on August 29, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arthur Elbert Harmon and Ruth Christensen.
Ned graduated from Highland High School in 1974. He attended Salt Lake Community College where he got an Associate Nursing Degree (LPN) in 1980. He had his CDL, driving for Kellogg's for many years until he retired when they dissolved the Utah location. He continued driving for a few different companies until he fully retired a few years later.
Ned met Libbie (Mirtil), the love of his life, in 1978, and they married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 16, 1979. Ned and Libbie went on to have seven children and soon to be 23 grandchildren.
Ned was famous for his nicknames. He gave each of his kids nicknames and it was a rare experience to hear him call them by their real names. But nicknames didn't stop with his kids; their friends, spouses, and then the grandkids were all given their own nicknames from Ned. Even other family, friends, neighbors and co-workers all had nicknames. To have a Ned Harmon nickname was a real privilege.
Ned had a love of tools. He loved spending time in his garage working on projects. He was truly a gifted DIY-er who did a lot of his own projects rather than hiring someone to do it. He built fences, sheds, trailers, furniture, decks, and everything else.
He loved to teach his kids to work with their hands, as well, and spent a lot of time helping them with their own projects. He taught them how to mud sheetrock, tile a bathroom shower, how to weld, and how to change a tire and the oil on a car. He was his happiest when working on projects and watching his children be productive together.
Ned battled prostate cancer for 11 years. It eventually made him more homebound, which was a huge struggle for him. He had a lot of places he longed to visit and a lot of projects he wished he could do. His new favorite pastime was watching YouTube videos and sharing his favorites with others.
Ned was a beloved husband, father, friend, and papa. He was the best listener, loved to tell jokes to make people laugh, and always had a good pun for you.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Ruth Harmon, and Carl and Nancy Edge, as well as his brother-in-law Joe, whom he can finally meet.
Ned is survived by his wife, Libbie, and his seven children: Brady (Chantal), Abbie (Matt), Dane (Danielle), Lyndsay (David), Chelsey (Hans), Kali (Shawn), and Jake (Hillary), plus his 22, soon to be 23, grandchildren.
