Arthur A. Horning

Arthur A. Horning, 79, of Vermilion, died Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community after a brief illness.
He was born December 4, 1943 in Lorain, and had been a life long Vermilion resident.
Arthur graduated from Vermilion High School in 1963 and worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for over 30 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Vermilion where he was involved with the Knights of Columbus. He had also been a volunteer with hospice and he enjoyed fishing and traveling (making it to all 50 states). He will be remembered as practical jokester who loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Amanda R. (Michael) Gonzalez of Elyria and Alicia B. Brewer of Vermilion; son, Alex (Gina Smith) Horning of Vermilion; grandchildren: Dylan Zion Gonzalez, Jasef Cash Gonzalez, X'avier Lenox Horning, Carmen Angelyna Horning, Elaine Ray Gonzalez, Vanessa Skye Horning, Eli Vaughn Gonzalez, and Orion Alucard Gonzalez; sister, Judy Horner of Vermilion; brother, Tom Horning of Vermilion; niece, Tonya Horning; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ray Horning in 2013; parents, Howard and Ruth (nee Webb) Horning; sons, Arthur A. Horning Jr. and Aerik Peanut Horning; daughter, Nadia A. Horning; sisters, Georgene (W.C.) Cooper and Janis Cooper; brothers, Howard "Charlie" (Nancy) Horning and Bill Horning; father and mother-in-law, William and Carmen Lettenberger; and his brother-in-law, Richard Horner.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Private services will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Joseph Indian School, 1301 N Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
