It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Arthur Lee Jones Sr., who entered eternal rest on October 22, 2025. He transitioned peacefully, leaving behind a legacy that will forever remind us that he was our family's heart and strength, the foundation of our love and unity.
Arthur Lee Jones Sr. was born on September 25, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Evelyn Vinnett.
After finishing school, he joined the Job Corps and later proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam War and, after completing his honorable service, began a career defined by hard work and dedication.
After retiring from the State of Louisiana, Arthur enjoyed the next chapter of his life traveling and cruising, doing what he loved most.
Arthur married his beloved wife, the late Valerie Green Jones, on January 10, 1970, and their union was blessed with five children: Arthur Lee Jones Jr., Valencia Jones Spotville, Christina Jones, Quincy Jones Sr. (Kaneesha), and Elizabeth Jones Breland. He shared a special bond with his son, Quincy Jones Sr. (Kaneesha) whose love, care, and devotion brought him great comfort and joy throughout his later years.
His joy multiplied with the arrival of fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each carrying forward a part of his love, laughter, and legacy.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his children–Arthur Lee Jones Jr., Valencia Jones Spotville, Christina Jones, Quincy Jones Sr. (Kaneesha), and Elizabeth Jones Breland; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; aunt–Audrey V. Eugene of St. Rose, Louisiana; goddaughter–Tina Smith-Blackmore; and a host of family and friends.
Arthur Lee Jones Sr. is joyfully reunited with his beloved wife–Valerie Green Jones whom he cherished and loved deeply. He was also preceded in death by his devoted mother–Evelyn Vinnett; grandparents–Oscar and Olevia Blue Vinnett; and aunts and uncles–Cora V. Anderson, Octavia V. Paul, Pearl V. Rodney, Curtis Vinnett, August Vinnett, Oscar Vinnett Jr., Wilbert Vinnett, and Benjamin Vinnett.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
Family and friends are invited to the funeral service on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Fischer Community Church, 1737 L.B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans LA 70114.
The Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA 70056.
Military Honors will be awarded to Arthur Lee Jones Sr.
Professional Arrangements are entrusted to Murray Henderson Funeral Home, 1209 Teche Street, New Orleans, LA 70114.
