I hired Art at Connecticut College and he inherited my Endowed Chair when I left. He and I had come to know each other when we were doctoral students at Columbia. I have always had great respect for Art as an individual and I also believe greatly in the music he wrote. He was a person of great integrity in everything he did. He will be greatly missed and music will be enormously diminished without his voice.

Art Kreiger was a towering musician, a singular artist. He was a true master of his craft and his work is inimitable. Art was also a caring and generous friend, colleague, and mentor. He was a wonderful role model for the countless students who were lucky enough to work with him. He will is very fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Professor Kreiger was one big reason why I decided to study electronic music as an undergraduate student. While his language of music was deeply committed to electronic sounds, his way of communicating with his students was absolutely humane - both inside and outisde of his classroom, he met me and other students with a warm heart, humor, and sense of inquiry. His perceptiveness of sounds taught me there was no difference between electronic sounds and music. Music is simply music. While I took all these lessons for granted as a college student, looking back, I was blessed to have met a mentor who welcomed my curiosity, challenged my intellect, and broadened my perception of music with both gentleness and firmness. Professor Kreiger, I will always cherish your musicianship and mentorship that you shared with me and so many others. May you rest in peace -

As a fellow colleague I respected Art´s opinion, he was honest and to the point. He put a lot of thought into what he would tell you, he was not into idle chatter. I can still hear and see his laugh and smile, he made this world a better place. I´m sorry he has passed, my condolences to his family. I know that his memory will live on in his compositions and students.

I have known Art Kreiger for many years, working together at Connecticut College who is one of the greatest composer I ever worked with. I have performed his piano pieces many times including at Steinway Hall, NYC in October 2018 and really enjoyed his music and respect him as a composer and a close friend.
I express my sincere condolence to his family.
