Lawrence James Kreiger, 71, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away on November 12, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township. He was the devoted husband of Donna Jean (Gross) Kreiger, with whom he shared nearly five decades of marriage filled with love and companionship.
Born in Allentown on April 29, 1953, to the late John Wharton and Isabelle "Betty" (Ahlborn) Kreiger, Larry grew up with a deep appreciation for family and hard work. A 1971 graduate of Freedom High School, he went on to earn a degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 1975. Larry had a fulfilling career as an Environmental Engineer at the former Bethlehem Steel, where he proudly dedicated his talents for many years, contributing to one of the most important industries in the region.
Larry was particularly proud of his achievement of becoming an Eagle Scout. This accomplishment marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to integrity, service, and the outdoors-values he carried into every area of his life.
His love for the community was also evident in his many years of coaching with Northwest Little League, where he guided not only his own children but also their friends and teammates, imparting his wisdom and love for the game to countless young athletes.
A loyal Penn State football fan, Larry cheered on the Nittany Lions with unwavering enthusiasm, especially during the legendary coaching tenure of Joe Paterno.
Larry's warmth extended to dogs, and he never met a dog he didn't like, a reflection of his gentle and open-hearted nature. His own dogs, Finley and Beaumont, were cherished companions who brought him joy and comfort in recent years. Larry also adored his "grand-dogs" - Honey, Homer, Mosey, Luna, and Bullet - each one holding a special place in his heart.
Above all, Larry's legacy is one of hard work, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to know him, whether through his work, his coaching, or his role as a beloved family man.
Survivors: Larry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Donna; his children: Heather of Bethlehem, Adam of Allentown, Andrew of Bethlehem, and Alex (Aubrey) of Bethlehem. He is also survived by his brother, John (Rosemary) of Annapolis, MD, and held dear the special title of "Grampy" to his grandchildren, Alexis, Madeline, Nolan, and Ava, who brought him immense pride and joy.
