Glen D. Maurer, 83, of Fountain Hill, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on August 18, 2025. Born on September 30, 1941, he was the son of the late Llewellyn and Mary (Kurtz) Maurer.
Glen was a graduate of Fountain Hill High School and later studied at Bethlehem Business School. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Glen served from 1959 to 1963 aboard the USS Proteus. His strong will and determination were evident throughout his life, qualities that guided him in his career, his hobbies, and his relationships.
Glen worked as an accountant for the United States Parcel Service and, following retirement, continued working with Bon-Ton and H & R Block. Known for his meticulous nature and steady drive, he was also a notary public and rarely moved anywhere slowly-always quick on his feet and in motion.
Outside of work, Glen's passions brought him much joy. He was a member of the National Bowling League and proudly bowled for over 50 years. He also enjoyed golfing, playing poker, and tending to his family ancestry research. Some of his fondest moments were spent beside the fire, playing Scrabble with his wife, Korena. Together, they shared a lifetime of companionship that began when they met at her family's pub, "The Hole in the Wall." They were married on August 24, 1963, and remained devoted partners for nearly 62 years.
Glen will be remembered for his stubborn will, his loyalty, and his love of life's simple pleasures.
An active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church on Delaware Avenue, Glen's faith and community ties were central to his life.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Ortiz; his niece, Paula J. Toth; and his cousin and best friend, Richard Repash, Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Korena (Hillier) Maurer; nephew, Lou Ortiz and his wife, Lisa; and cousin, Julie Cooney, as well as extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem. The family will greet guests beginning at 10:30 a.m.
