Joyce Pearson Obituary
Joyce graduated from Saint Bernard High School in 1970, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Connecticut College. She was united in marriage to Steven Pearson Jan. 30, 1982; he survives her.
Joyce was employed at the former Bureau of Business Practice in Waterford for many years. She later worked for the Friendship School as a classroom assistant. Joyce was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish, a member of the St. Joseph Woman's Club, and a member of the former Dante Alighieri Society.
Besides her beloved husband of 42 years, she is survived by two daughters, Ursula Moreshead and Stephanie Rangel, both of Waterford. Joyce is also survived by two stepdaughters, Kerrie Pennella of New London and Tracy Morse of Vermont. She leaves behind her grandchildren: John and Anthony Moreshead, Carmela and Sunshine Rangel, Olivia Pennella and Trinity and Ryder Morse. Joyce leaves behind many cousins throughout New London, Rhode Island, and California. She was especially close with cousins, John and Elena Olson of Waterford, both of whom have been a major support for her and Steve. Joyce was predeceased by her brother Louis Lupica; and her son-in-law David Moreshead. "Nini" was loved very much by her grandchildren, and they were the center of her world.
She was an avid New York Yankees fan and watched every game as if she were the coach. Joyce was proud of her Sicilian heritage and told many stories about how her grandparents immigrated to the United States. She was a devout Catholic who found peace in her faith during difficult times. We ask that you keep Joyce and her family in your prayers.
Her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Avenue, New London. The funeral will assemble at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Mark and I are very saddened to here of Joyce's passing. We met Joyce and Louis at Beechwood when their mom Lucille was a patient there. Lucille and my Aunt Edith were roommates for a very long time. We had many wonderful visits together and stayed in touch. Our deepest sympathy to your entire family. She was a lovely lady.

I am so sad to hear about the passing of Joyce. Joyce was one of my first friends when I worked at The Friendship School. We often enjoyed long talks during our 10:30 am lunch break. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Joyce was my friend for 50 years. We met as young women in our twenties in Springfield, Ohio.
I grieve her loss and my heart goes out to Steve, Ursula and Stephanie as well as the rest of her family. We had some good times, Joyce. I will always remember you.

My heart and condolences for the whole family. Although, I did not have the privilege to know Joyce personally, I know her daughter, Ursula, is an amazing woman that will carry on her legacy with integrity and warmth and judge a tinge of sarcasm.
