Arthur Landers

Arthur Allan Landers, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home near Breckenridge, Michigan, on Saturday, January 3.
A private Celebration of Life service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, at Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home.
Arthur Allan Landers was born on March 21, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan. On February 28, 1969, he was united in marriage to Brenda Redmond in San Diego, California. Together, they raised two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Landers-Morado and Sandi Alisa Landers-Rhodes.
Art enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and proudly served the United States of America for 26 years. His distinguished career included combat service during the Vietnam War. Through unwavering dedication, discipline, and leadership, he rose through the ranks and retired honorably as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. His service reflected a lifelong commitment to duty, honor, and country.
In addition to his military service, Art devoted himself to public service as a volunteer firefighter. He held leadership roles in multiple departments, including Chief of the Chancellor Volunteer Fire Department in Virginia.
Following his retirement from the Marine Corps, Art continued his commitment to service through 15 years of employment in food service at the Saginaw Correctional Facility.
Art valued service, family, and the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing, and loved traveling in the RV with Brenda, spending winters away from the cold. He took great joy in working with his beagles and was always happy to help Brenda with the Welsh Springer Spaniels. Nothing meant more to him than time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
As Taps is sounded and the flag is folded, we honor a Marine who stood the watch with courage, served with distinction, and remained faithful to the end.
