Arthur Eugene "Gene" Lowe, Jr., passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at home under hospice care surrounded by family.
Gene was born in Joplin, Missouri at Freeman Hospital on August 8, 1943 to Arthur Eugene Lowe, Sr. and Mildred Lorene Lowe. Gene was of the Christian faith and was baptized in the Baptist church in 1958. He spent his childhood in Joplin, where he had many carefree adventures; riding his bicycle, working at the circus and being very active in sports.
As a teenager, one of his claims to fame was winning a championship yoyo contest Gene passed his love for yo-yo's onto his nieces and nephews.
He attended school in Joplin, Missouri until his senior year when he transferred to Branson, Missouri. Upon graduation, he joined the US Marine Corps in 1961. He served his country proudly for 4 years stationed in Japan, gaining accolades for serving with excellence as a supply clerk in the aviation area and earning his associate's degree.
Gene's career path was in the trucking and transportation industry where he held positions as sales manager, terminal manager and freight broker.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was loved and respected by all that knew him. In his free time, he loved fishing, watching old westerns, and Andy Griffith as it was reminiscent of a simpler time. He was a wonderful story teller and enjoyed writing about his childhood antics and experiences.
Gene was preceded in death by his father Arthur Sr., his mother Mildred Lorene Lowe, his sister Mildred Elaine Jones and nephew Mark Milliken.
He has survived by his wife of 25 years, Cheryl Lowe; his son Eric Lowe, stepsons Rob Bell and Scott (Christa) Bell, his sister Teresa Jones and daughter-in-law Debbie Lowe; grandsons Josh and Brett Lowe, Wyatt (Emma) Bell and Cru Bell, great grandchildren IvyAnn and Dakota Lowe and Charlotte Bell as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will follow at a later date. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
