1968-2024
Arthur William McGaughy, III, 56, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024.
He was born June 20, 1968 in St. Joseph to Arthur William McGaughy, Jr. and Billy Jean (Hayes) McGaughy. He graduated from Elwood High School.
He worked at Friskies, Gray Manufacturing and Boehringer before retiring early due to health concerns.
Arthur was known in the community as a mentor and he loved coaching his football team the Bengals. He was a die-hard Chiefs fan and loved his wife, kids and grandkids.
A kind soul who was there for anybody and everybody, Arthur also loved to tell jokes, even if they didn't make sense.
He was preceded in death by his son, William Trae McGaughy Sr.; and grandparents, Beatrice & Otis Hayes and Marion & Arthur McGaughy, Sr.
Survivors include his father, Arthur McGaughy, Jr. (Sherry); his mother, Billy Jean McGaughy; his wife, Judy; children, Shannel Goodwin, Jeray McGaughy, Andrae McGaughy (Cortlyn), Shirael Green, and Lorenzo Rucker; grandchildren, De'Aira, William Trae, Jr., Amiyah, and Princeton; siblings, Aaron McGaughy (Michelle) and Makeshia Stone (Joe); several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; numerous cousins, other extended family and friends.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, First Baptist Church, Elwood, Kansas. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 7, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family requests contributions to Arthur's Funeral Fund.
