Arthur J. Murphy
February 14, 1954 – November 27, 2024
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur J. Murphy, 70, of Bethlehem, PA, who left us on November 27, 2024. Born to the late Joseph and Jeanette Murphy in Queens, New York, Arthur carried the vibrant spirit of New York with him throughout a life dedicated to family, community, and joyous memories with his loved ones.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children, Michael (and daughter-in-law Bobbi), Sarah, and Amanda (and son-in-law Dylan); and his cherished grandsons, Ryan and Evan Murphy, brothers; Daniel and wife Anne, Joseph and wife Eileen, and Robert and his wife Shelly. He was pre-deceased by his brother Thomas. His family was his pride and joy, and his influence extended far beyond his immediate circle.
Arthur's passion was community. He dedicated countless hours to fostering connections, from developing youth basketball and football leagues to serving as Commissioner for Bethlehem Township. For decades, he brought friends and family together with his legendary football pools, often hosting over 150 participants each season. He was a lifetime Notre Dame fan after graduating from there and loved his various New York sports teams, especially being a faithful Jets fan. He loved crunching numbers and delving into the logistics of matters others might overlook, always bringing practical wisdom and calm reasoning to any situation.
Art leaves Selvaggio Enterprises after over two decades of dedicated service as their Controller. In addition to his work at Selvaggio, he also provided tax preparation services for many years, a profession he began shortly after graduating college.
A natural leader and mentor, Arthur coached hundreds of kids, leaving a lasting legacy not only with them but with their families as well. Generous, calm-natured, and endlessly thoughtful, Arthur made it his mission to ensure everyone around him felt included and valued.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3219 Santee Road, Bethlehem, PA, 18020, followed by a memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. Friends and loved ones are welcome to join in celebrating the life of this remarkable man.
Arthur J. Murphy's legacy is one of love, generosity, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Art was a wonderful person easy to talk to always funny and joking around ,always making you laugh. I was so glad I got to spend time with him at a wedding talking about our families and just catching up and reminiscing about the good old days. He will truly be missed and never forgotten .Rest in peace my dear friend.

My cousin, Arthur, was a constant in my childhood. He lived two houses from me in Hicksville, NY, but our house was as much his as the Murphy house was ours. Three years younger than me, Arthur and his brothers were especially close to my brother, also named Arthur. The boys were always getting into interesting things, from climbing on garage roofs to play flashlight tag to a nasty run in Aunt Jeanette's Rose of Sharon bushes laden with angry bees. Rest in peace, Artie.
