Arthur Olsen Obituary
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Wednesday, August 27th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) for Arthur S. Olsen, who passed away on Wednesday, August 20th, at the Holden Rehab in Holden, MA, following a very long and debilitating illness. He had just recently celebrated his 68th birthday. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
Arthur was born in Everett on July 15, 1957, to his late parents, Ret. Revere Fire Lt. Arthur S. "Siggy" Olsen, Sr., and Florence I. (Cramb) Olsen. He was one of seven children and was raised in Revere. He attended Revere Public Schools and graduated from Pope John XXIII High School, Class of 1975. Arthur continued his education at Salem State College, where he earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Psychology.
Arthur was a man of great intellect with a constant desire to learn new things. In addition to his career in psychology, he spent time as a writer, pursuing his love for words and storytelling. He married his wife, Helene (Freedman) in 2000, and the couple settled in Swampscott, raising twin sons, Seth and Jacob Olsen.
Arthur was a devoted husband and father who had many passions in life. He was a man with a kind heart who enjoyed reading, writing, and sharing knowledge. He was well-known for his delicious clam sauce, a meal he always craved and loved to prepare. His greatest joy in life was being a dad, spending time with his sons, playing Legos and video games, particularly Club Penguin, and helping them with their homework. He delighted in teaching them and encouraging their curiosity.
Arthur is the beloved husband of 15 years to the late Helene (Freedman) Olsen. He is the loving father of Seth Olsen and Jacob Olsen of Swampscott. He is also the cherished brother of Wayne D. Spencer and wife Georgianna, Donna M. Hurley and her late husband Dee Jay Hurley, Alan R. Olsen and wife Annette of Georgetown, Sonja J. Olsen of Revere, Eric L. Olsen and wife Erica of Sandown, NH, and Zoe A. Simonton of Winthrop. He is also survived by a very dear family friend Joi Tompkins, as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Arthur's memory may be made to a GoFundMe page established to support his sons, Seth and Jacob.
