MARY MAY Obituary

MAY, Mary Elizabeth Age 82, of Brooksby Village in Peabody, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Beverly Hospital. Mary was born on February 19, 1943, in Lawrence, MA, daughter of the late Arthur G. May and Catherine G. (Wilson) May. Mary lived in Waltham and Arlington much of her life. Mary dedicated her life to education, serving as a high school teacher for many years at Chelmsford High School and as a private tutor for the SAT English Tests. She was a graduate of St. Laurence O'Toole grammar school and St. Mary's High School, both in Lawrence, and of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., from which she received her BA, as well as Salem State College, where she earned her M Ed. Mary touched the lives of countless students throughout her career, with many of her SAT students writing their thanks for her tutelage years after she had retired from tutoring. Mary is survived by her brother, John May and his wife. Caroline. of North Carolina; her nieces. Rebekah May and Rachel May; and her nephew, Joshua May; and their children, whom Mary loved dearly, Ezra, Lily, Phoebe and Isaac. She is also survived by her cousins in the Lyons and Reilly families, with whom she was very close. Along with her parents, Mary was predeceased by matriarchs and patriarchs of the Lyons & Reilly families, with whom she shared many happy times. Visiting Hours: Services are private.
