Arthur "Artie" Pierce Jr.

Arthur Edmond Pierce Jr., also fondly known as "Art" or "Artie", age 75, passed away on June 16, 2025, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH, after a period of declining health.
He was born on September 24, 1949, in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Arthur Edmond Pierce Sr. and Phyllis Irene (Barnard) Pierce. Art was raised in Hampstead and Danville, NH, the middle child of three. He began his high school years at Sanborn High School, later transferring to Timberlane Regional High School in Plaistow, where he graduated.
Art's lifelong friend and high school sweetheart, Susan Elaine Ward, became his wife on September 29, 1973. Following high school, Art proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972, spending much of his service stationed in Key West, Florida.
Together, Art and Susan built their life in Kingston, NH, where they have lived for the past 42 years after moving between Plaistow, Sandown, and Hampstead. Art spent his entire professional career as a dedicated oil burner technician, working for Merrick Oil, Cash Oil, and later for Ronnie's Oil Co. in Haverhill, MA, where he stayed for 17 years until health issues led to his retirement.
Art was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his love of horseshoes, competing enthusiastically for decades in the Bedbug Horseshoe League. He treasured weekends and vacations with Susan and their daughters at the Ossipee River in Kezar Falls, ME, and the Ward family cottage on Ossipee Lake. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his family.
In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by his infant son, Matthew Pierce, his brother, Russell Pierce, and his sister, Eleanor Trow.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Susan Pierce; his daughters, Kari Anna Collins and her husband Keith, and Amanda Sue Pierce Hutchins; grandchildren, Jacqueline Pierce, Karlee Collins, and Brian Hutchins Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jaelyn Pierce, Kadence Pierce, and Madeline Gerry; and his nieces and nephew, Mindy, Lynne, and Doug.
A private graveside service will be held in the fall at West Hampstead Cemetery, Hampstead, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Art's memory to the National Kidney Foundation.
