Arthur R. "Arty" Pike

Arthur R. Pike, 71, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at home. He was born in Erie on April 6, 1954, a son of Alice (Wiswell) and the late, Arthur W. Pike.

He graduated from Tech Memorial High School, and attended Mercyhurst College. He worked making molds at a plastic shop until he became unable to work.

In his younger days, Arty enjoyed making music. He traveled within the tri-state area with a local Rock-and-Roll band. He was the drummer for the R-Magadon band. It was later called the Living Dead Band. Artys passion was playing drums. The band would practice in his basement, drowning out watching T.V. for his younger siblings. The Living Dead Band was an imitation of the popular KISS Band. They played the part, looking and sounding like KISS. With all the make-up, costumes, and stage props used by KISS. Each performance was a spectacular show, and a good time for all their fans. Arty didn't display a hard rock-and-roller personality. He was always against smoking and drinking. He was a quiet, mild person that kept to himself. Arty would make hand-made specialized drum sticks that he sold to the local music stores.

He also enjoyed sci-fi movies, and caring for stray cats. Arty took his video recorder everywhere to record every event going on. His family cherishes a large collection of home movies of all our get togethers and celebrations, from picnics to weddings, even every day life. Because of Arty's time, and effort, it seems like our whole life is on tape. Every moment was preserved forever. We will treasure all the memories.

Arthur is survived by his mother, Alice Pike of Albion, PA, two sisters, Christine Struchen of Albion, PA and Cindy Lu Pike Stile (Dave) of Erie, a brother, Kenneth Pike of Meadville, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his father, Arthur W. Pike and his infant brother, David Pike.
