Arthur Franklin Rounds, 82, of
Pelham, NH died suddenly on February 18, 2026.
Arthur was born on July 30, 1943, to his parents, George and Catherine (Heath) Rounds. He grew up in
Andover, NH, graduating from Andover High School in 1961. After High School, Arthur met the woman he would go on to marry and love for a lifetime, Mary Wallace Rounds. In 1965, Arthur and Mary were married, and spent over 60 years together.
In their early married years, Arthur and Mary lived in
Washington, DC. Arthur served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, and was awarded The Good Conduct Medal and as well as certifications in photographic studies before his honorable discharge. He went on to pursue continuing education at Rochester Institute of Technology, graduating with a degree in Photography. Arthur and Mary lived in
Churchville, NY for 4 years, during which time they celebrated the birth of their son, Matthew George Oliver Rounds.
Arthur and Mary moved to NH in the late 70s, spending about 6 years in
Milford, NH, before moving to
Mont Vernon, NH, where they lived for over 30 years. Arthur and Mary moved to
Pelham, NH most recently in the spring of 2025.
Arthur was an avid photographer, having spent about 20 years as the owner of a photography studio, Rounds Custom Photo Lab in
Manchester, NH. Arthur also taught photography at Rochester Institute of Technology and White Pines College, among other locations. Arthur retired from formal business ownership in 1989 and continued doing contract photography work in the years to come. In recent times, Arthur joined the League of NH Craftsmen, exhibiting his work at their annual Art Show. In his later years, Arthur enjoyed continuing his photography efforts, photographing the Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine, among other favorite destinations. Arthur particularly enjoyed photographing birds, bridges, and beautiful scenic areas.
Through much of his life Arthur enjoyed riding motorcycles, being in nature, including a period of time in which he and Mary together discovered a passion for scuba diving, taking many trips to island locations, their favorite destination being Bonaire. Arthur also enjoyed working in his shop, and was an enthusiast of model trains and reading mysteries.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Wallace Rounds, his son Matthew Rounds, his grandchildren Savannah and Quinn Rounds, and his daughter-in-law, Amanda Hayden. Arthur leaves behind his beloved pets, a German Shepherd Sam and two cats, Lilly and Poppy. Arthur also leaves behind friends that he had made in the
Pelham, NH community, including his kind neighbors and members of a local congregation. Arthur is pre-deceased by his parents, siblings and many friends.
There will not be services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the League of NH Craftsmen.
