Arthur Lee Vanderburg, Jr., of Clute, TX, age 80, passed away on November 7, 2025.

Art was born to Evelyn Vanderburg and Arthur Vanderburg, Sr. in Chicago, IL.

After moving to Freeport, TX, Art graduated from Brazosport High School and entered the U.S. Navy where he served 4 years.

After his discharge, Art returned home to marry the love of his life, Edith Jenkins. They remained married for 55 years, 3 months and 23 days. They traveled around the country riding roller coasters and enjoying their 2 sons, Thomas Leon Vanderburg and Kevin Lynn Vanderburg.

Arthur enjoyed camping with his family, bowling, riding roller coasters, playing video games, watching football, and going on cruises.

Art was preceded in death by his parents Evelyn Reed, Arthur Vanderburg, Sr., Stepfather Guy Reed, brothers Donnie L. Vanderburg and Jerry Vanderburg.

He is survived by his wife Edith Jenkins Vanderburg, sons Thomas L. Vanderburg (Heather) of Arlington, TX, Kevin L. Vanderburg of San Antonio, TX, and 5 grandchildren, Jewel, Lane, Holly, Alex, and Theodore Vanderburg, all of Arlington, TX.

Serving as honorary pall bearers are Daniel Zepeda, Levi Atkins, Edward Jenkins, Fred Jenkins, Kevin Vanderburg and Thomas Vanderburg.

A celebration of life will be at Stroud Funeral Home, 538 N. Brazosport Blvd., Clute, TX, on Friday, November 14, 2025. Visitation will be from 12-1pm with a memorial service at 1 pm.

Interment will be at the Veterans National Cemetery in Houston, TX.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lake Jackson SPCA or the charity of your choice.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
