Mr. Arthur George Walker passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at his residence in Bridgeport, Michigan. Age 97 years. Arthur George was born on June 13, 1928, in Hope, Arkansas, to John Eugene (Chet) Walker and Lula Mae Thomas. At the age of twelve, he relocated to Growing Valley, Louisiana, where he completed sixth grade. In the late 1950s, he relocated to Michigan, where Lawrence Trucking Company and Fairchild Trucking Company employed him.
Mr. Walker enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, and metalworking. He was known for his willingness to assist others, including strangers.
Mr. Walker is survived by his three sons, Willie (Alice) Walker and Robert (Brenda) Walker of Houston, Texas, and Curtis (Betty) Walker, as well as his daughter, Clara Hicks of Saginaw, Michigan. He also leaves behind one stepson, Howard Strickland (Susan), and two stepdaughters, Margie Schnell and Beatrice McGill, all of Saginaw, Michigan. Additionally, he is survived by daughter-in-law Rita Strickland and son-in-law Brian McGill of Saginaw, Michigan. Mr. Walker was cared for with great compassion by his special niece and great-nephew, Mary Ann Walker and Devireo Walker, during the last five years of his life. He also had a close friendship with Freddie Sargeant, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Arthur George Walker was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Walker; four brothers, Sam Walker, Judge Walker, Eddie Lee Walker, and John Washington; three sisters, Elizabeth Lowery, Virgie Mae, and Mittie Walker; his first wife and mother of his children, Mabel Walker; his second wife, Fannie Mae Walker; and long-time companion, Arlene Lawrence; his stepdaughter, Pamela Jones; stepsons, Alois Schnell and Alexander Jones Sr.
