The world has lost a smart, kind, and loving soul with the passing of Atticus Hal Jones at the tender age of 7. Born in Virginia Beach, Atticus spent his all-too-brief time on Earth charming everyone he met with a wit sharper than any pencil in his art kit. A native of the digital realm, Atticus was a formidable gamer who could craft entire worlds in Minecraft and outbuild his competition in Fortnite without breaking a sweat. When he wasn't conquering virtual landscapes, Atticus could be found performing architectural wonders with his trusty Lego bricks, creating masterpieces that defied gravity and parental expectations alike. His talents weren't confined to just gaming and construction; he was also a master of the card table, where he became an UNO shark according to his Mom and had his opponents respecting him long before sitting down to play. Atticus's artistic soul shone through his love of drawing and coloring, leaving behind a legacy of vibrant artwork that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have received them. A natural comedian, Atticus never missed an opportunity to make people laugh, often turning ordinary moments into memorable ones with his silly antics and delightful sense of humor. His beach outings were legendary, with Atticus always being the last one to leave the water, and usually having to be made to come back onto shore. The ocean waves were a perfect complement to his boundless energy and infectious joy. Survived by his devoted parents, Akile and Kaylie Jones of Jacksonville, brother Remus, and sister Veda, Atticus leaves behind a heartbroken but grateful family. He is also cherished by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who will dearly miss his lively spirit. A gathering to celebrate Atticus' life will be held at 2 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville on Saturday, June 14th. In honor of his vibrant personality, the family kindly requests that attendees wear bright colors to the celebration. Though Atticus's time with us was short, his impact was profound, and his memory will live on brightly in the hearts of those who knew him.
