My daddy called today and told me about his school friend passing who lived in Atlanta. It was Mr. Aubray Abrams. He told me what a good man he was and what a good family he was from. Both my daddy and I had Mr. Abrams mother as our 4th grade teacher at Alexandria. I loved her as did my dad. To the Abrams family, I am so sorry for your loss! Mr. Abrams is remembered fondly by my daddy, Shaler Whiteside.

Sadness gripped our souls when we learned of Aubray's passing in the Opelika-Auburn News. From the days when we attended the BSU (Baptist Student Union) State conference in Birmingham in the late 1950s and later buying their upright piano in the early days of Aubray's Air Force stint, our paths continued to cross until now. We will remember Aubray as a solid Christian and such a good man.

Aubray and I were close friends at AU...knew him all through school. I will remember him for his great smile and always happy attitude. So sorry.

I was a fellow pilot at Delta Air Lines with Aubray and my wife a friend of his wife Judith through their garden club and our retired pilot group. This fine gent was about as nice as anyone could meet. Even though we were not frequent, close friends, I know he will be missed by all the folks that knew him and especially by each member of his family. My wife and I send our utmost sympathy to "Judy" and the other survivors. May God's blessings be with Judith and each family member to ease the grief of this dear loved one.

My fondest memory of Aubrey:
It was c. 1998 as I was on a Delta flight returning from Paris to Atlanta and heard the PA that Aubrey Abrams was the Captain. I informed a flight attendant that I was a family friend of Captain Abrams and his wife and asked her to please give him the note I had written, informing him that I was onboard his flight. So, when Aubrey had a break he came back to speak to me...striding down the aisle in full uniform hat and all, smiling at everyone, looking very handsome. So what I remember most about Aubrey are the warmth of his smile, his impeccable manners and his southern gentlemanly charm. He took the time to come speak with me for those few moments on that flight, making me feel important in front of a cabin full of passengers. Aubrey will be missed by all of us who knew him. I send my heartfelt condolences to Judy and all of the Abrams family. In deepest sympathy, Shirley McCarter Lambe

A real "Southern Gentleman" who will be surely missed. He was a comrade, true friend and a veteran patriot. Have a good flight West. Allen and Karen
