Audie Martin Obituary
He was born on November 20, 1909 at Amity, the son of John Martin and Hattie Payte Martin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Grant Martin; his step-daughter, Sherry Lynn Cowart; and his sister, Dora Melva Short.
He was a member and deacon of the Midway Missionary Baptist Church and a retired logger and farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Martin of Amity; his son, Jim Martin of Placerville, California; his step-son and his wife, Elwood and Gayle Massey of Amity; seven grandchildren, Val Martin, Dr. Chris Martin, Ladonna Smith, Dena Burtness, Mika Massey Cantrell, James Massey and Isaac Massey; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 16, 2005 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Golden and Bro. Arlie Francis officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Val Martin, Dr. Chris Martin, James Massey, Isaac Massey, Alex Smith, Tony Smith and Bruce Burtness.

My condolences to the family of Audie Martin.
I became aquanted with Mr. Martin when he had the chicken houses at Amity, since I was an employee at Keith Smith then.I really thought a lot of Mr. Martin. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing.

My sympathy goes out to Audie's family. My husband Don and I visited with Ruth and Audie in 2001 while doing some family tree research. Audie and my mother Mary Martin Williams were cousins. I think that Audie's father and my grandfather Thomas Martin were brothers. Audie was a very sweet man. My mother Mary will be very sorry, too, to hear about Audie's passing.
