Audre Lyn Gilden passed away on April 20,2024. She was born on Jan 26,1931to her parents Carl and Arlene Blackwell in Anacortes. At a young age she moved with her parents to Ballard, Washington. Audre did her schooling in Ballard and Anacortes, Washington.
After her sister Gail was born in 1944, she eventually moved back to Anacortes and then she met her husband Elmer and on Sept 3, 1949 they were married. They were married almost 70 years as Elmer passed away in 2019.
They made their home in Anacortes and raised their 3 children, Claudia, Garth and Gene. Audre spent her years as a devoted loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She was very active in and around their home raising their children. She enjoyed tending her flowers, gardening, canning, going to the beach, agate beach combing and many numerous family and friend gatherings.
Over the years she loved to watch her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports especially baseball and would be at most every game to cheer them on. She loved to watch all the kids play any type of sports.
She traveled to Hawaii, Ocean Shores, Lake Chelan and Wapato! She loved and cherished these times away with her mom, her sister Gail and brother-in-law Don. She spent many weeks at the Lopez Island house enjoying family time, clamming, beach walking and many sunsets. She dearly loved her furry four-legged kids as well as all the families' furry kids.
Elmer and Audre traveled to Tennessee with a group of very good friends and enjoyed visiting the many historical attractions, food, entertainment and the companionship. This was a special time in her life to be with Elmer and their friends.
She was very active in Beta Sigma Phi's many activities, which lead to many dear lifelong friends. You all know who you are!! She also loved to swim and was very active in water aerobics.
She was known to her mother as her 'lil buddy', as she would take her mom shopping and out for coffee. These were very cherished times.
Audre had a very loving, strong, sassy stance in life and she will be dearly missed. She was super proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She so loved the family get togethers.
She leaves behind her sons Garth (Tami) and Gene (Diana) Gilden of Anacortes. She was a grandmother to 8 grandchildren Trisha (Jeff), Dustin (Sara), Brandon, Joseph (Joanna)Gilden. Jessica, Jeremy, Jason and Jennifer Huffman; 18 Great Grandchildren include Eamon, Lincoln, Phoenix, Tessa, Taya, Kash, Kinley and Knox Gilden; Taylor Wortner, Nicholas, Brody, Rylee, Jackson, Janelle, Patrick Huffman and Paige.
