St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Rita Audrey Mae Alexander, 87, who passed away on February 1, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 7:00 am until time of service.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Wednesday.
Fr. John Joseph, CJC will officiate at the funeral mass.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum.
Audrey Mae was born on February 25, 1936 in Saint Martinville. Audrey Mae's unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life. Prayer provided her with comfort during difficult times and served as a guiding light throughout her journey. Her dedication to spirituality inspired those around her to seek solace in their own belief systems.
Family held an incredible importance to Audrey Mae. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, creating lasting memories that will endure for generations to come. Whether it was gathering together for joyful celebrations or offering support during challenging times, Audrey Mae's love for her family knew no bounds.
Audrey Mae's presence will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her positive impact on others will continue to inspire kindness and love long after she has passed away. While we mourn the loss of such an extraordinary woman, we can find peace in reflecting upon the remarkable legacy she leaves behind.
She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Alexander, Debra Rogers and Gail Dalcourt (Henry); sons, Norman Alexander (Jewell) and Dwight Alexander, I; grandchildren, Terracia Rogers Skipper (Brandon), Terri Rogers Pierre, Brittney Alexander Sanders (Marcus), Dwight Alexander, II (Jessica), Bethany Alexander, Rene Dalcourt (Alisicia), Markeith Alexander, Rachel Alexander, Maia Alexander and David Alexander; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Henry Fontenette, Sr; bonus daughter, Monique Alexander; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Alexander, Jr.; parents, Foster and Daisy Fontenette; brothers, Edmond Fontenette, Sr. and Floyd Fontenette, Sr.; sisters, Alberta Doucet and Annabelle Fontenette; son-in-law, Willie Rogers; nephew, Paul Fontenette.
Pallbearers will be Rene Dalcourt, Brandon Skipper, Marcus Sanders, Dwayne Alexander, Troy Francis, and Toler Torrence, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacon Norman Alexander, Dwight Alexander, I, Dwight Alexander, II, Henry Dalcourt, Jr., Henry Fontenette, Sr., and Floyd Fontenette, Jr.
