Audrey Carter Fairman Schenectady, NY – Audrey C. Fairman, 94, of Schenectady, NY passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center where she had been a resident. Born on Oct. 24, 1930 in Clayton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Wilmont K. and Eva Daily Carter. Audrey was raised and educated in Clayton, NY, graduating from Clayton Central School in 1947. She went on to Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in Schenectady, graduating as a R.N. in 1950. She later went on to complete her undergraduate degree (B.S.) in 1970 and graduate degree (M.S.) in 1975 both from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. Audrey was employed at Ellis Hospital as a Clinical Instructor from 1950 to 1954. She then went to work for a Visiting Nurse Service in Schenectady working as a Staff Nurse from 1954 until 1958. In 1958, she went to work for the Schenectady City School District as a School Nurse and Elementary Classroom Teacher until her retirement in 1985. Audrey was a member of Albany Street United Methodist Church, Russell Sage College Alumni Association, Eta Sigma Gamma, Schenectady Federation of Teachers, New York State United Teachers, the Schenectady County and New York State Retired Teachers Associations, the Annie Schaffer and Shenendehowa Senior Centers and was an avid tap dancer. Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Frank M. Fairman, who died in 1979. At Audrey's request, funeral services will be private and burial will take place at Park View Cemetery in Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
