Audwin Scott Williams, age 68, passed away on January 19, 2026. He was born on March 9, 1957, in Okinawa, Japan, to the late Freddy Williams and Suzanne Titus Williams.

As the child of a military family, Scott experienced life across the globe and the United States, living in Germany, New York, Indiana, and North Carolina. He attended Maconaquah High School in Peru, Indiana, where he was a proud member of the Thespian Society.

From 1974 to 1978, Scott proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he completed four years of honorable service, earned the rank of Lance Corporal, and worked in military communications. His service instilled in him discipline, technical skill, and a commitment to public service that carried through the rest of his life.

Following his military service, Scott worked as a lineman for BellSouth before continuing his education at Gaston College, where he earned an Associate of Science degree. After receiving his degree, he worked for Carolina By-Products in Bessemer City, North Carolina.

Scott began a long and dedicated career in municipal service, devoting decades to ensuring clean and safe water and wastewater treatment for his community. He served as a Water Treatment Operator for Bessemer City, the Town of Dallas, North Carolina, and finally for Aqua, North Carolina, until his retirement in 2012. He was an active member of the North Carolina Water Operators Association (NCWOA) for 35 years.

In addition to his professional career, Scott was an entrepreneur, operating his own business, Pisces Aquarium, where he maintained aquariums for local businesses. In addition, he volunteered as a Cub Scout Master and leading his scouts on Pow Wows, jamborees, and camping trips, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.

Scott was an avid reader. He loved to read and amassed an impressive collection of science fiction books.

Scott Williams will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his community, his mentorship of young people, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the communities he served.

In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his stepmother, Peggy Mills Adair; siblings, Tanya Williams, Dana Williams, Brenda Williams and Samantha Cope.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Gloria Williams; children, Audwin Russell Williams (Tabitha) of Grover, North Carolina and Helen Pennington (Robert) of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren, Chiara Pennington, Alessandra Pennington, Valentina Pennington, Isaac Brooks, Archer Pennington, and Kathryne Pennington; and siblings, Brian Williams, Richard Williams, Tena Williams, Phyllis Lazenby, and Tommy Adair.

At the request of the family, all services will be private.
