It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of August "Gus" D'Onofrio, who left us peacefully on July 1, 2024 at the age of 92. He was born on November 16, 1931 and lived a life marked by devotion, service and love. Gus was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Theresa and his cherished son, Marc D'Onofrio. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maureen Quinn and his loving children Denise (Brian) Fitzgerald and Raymond D'Onofrio, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.A proud and adoring grandfather, Gus leaves behind his grandchildren Elizabeth, Matthew, Lisa, and Brandon, who brought immense joy and pride into his life. He is also survived by Maureen's family- her children Linda (James) and Nancy (Joe), 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.Gus was a man of deep faith, a devout Catholic who found solace and strength in his religion. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor and dedication. In his leisure time, Gus had a passion for golf, bowling, activities that brought him great happiness and camaraderie. He also loved to travel, exploring new places and creating cherished memories along the way. Professionally, Gus dedicated over 35 years of his life to Detroit Edison, where he worked with integrity and diligence until his well-earned retirement. Gus's life was a testament to devotion from his faith, his family, his country, and to his work. His legacy of love, dedication and joy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A visitation will take place at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Rd (3 Blks E. of Van Dyke) Utica, on Friday (July 12th) from 3pm - 8pm with a Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church 40501 Hayes Road
Sterling Heights on Saturday (July 13th). He will lie instate at 10:30am until the time of Mass at 11am, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Donation may be made to the Capuchin's.
