Midden, August Jerome, 90, of Eureka Springs Arkansas, died on November 24,2023. August, (Gus), was born in St. Louis, Mo. and graduated from St. Mary High School. Gus married Alice Maier on June 23,1951. They were married for 72 years. Gus served in the Army during the Korean War. After the war he spent 43 years working as a printer at Western Printing Company and Defense Mapping Agency. After he retired, they moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Gus and his loving wife, Alice, enjoyed traveling. When he wasn't traveling, he was making furniture and made several pieces for the altar at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Eureka Springs. Gus is survived by his four children, Jerry(Mary) Midden, Kim(Edward) Schniedermeyer, Thomas(Lisa) Midden, Janice(Douglas) Hymer; his grandchildren, Jamie(Christopher) Gray, Daniel(Kelly) Midden, Ethan Schniedermeyer, Amanda Schniedermeyer, Ryan(Mary Katelin) Schniedermeyer, Jake Midden, Ava Midden; his great grandchildren, Ashley Gray, Charlie Gray, August Midden, Dorothy Midden, Mickey Midden, Parker Schniedermeyer, Mary June Schniedermeyer, Griffin Schniedermeyer. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Midden. A “Celebration of Gus’s Life” will be held at 10am on Monday, February 19, 2024, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Eureka Springs, AR.
