Aurora N. Hayward
May 4, 2011 – September 30, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the unexpected passing of Aurora N. Hayward, age 14, of Bishopville, Maryland (formerly of Dagsboro, Delaware), on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at her home.

Aurora was born on May 4, 2011, in Salisbury, Maryland, to her parents, Antonio L. Hayward and Ashley N. Lewis. She grew up in Dagsboro and later moved to Bishopville, where she continued to light up the world around her with her joyful spirit and big heart.

She was a student in the Indian River School District, attending John M. Clayton and Selbyville Middle School, and had just started her freshman year at Stephen Decatur High School. She was looking forward to all the adventures of high school-making new friends, trying new things, and figuring out who she wanted to be.

Aurora will be remembered most for her creative soul, her dark sense of humor, and the way she could bring a smile to anyone's face. She loved to draw and do art projects. She had a unique style, a love for makeup and fashion, and wasn't afraid to express herself. Her energy lit up every room she walked into.

She loved being outside-riding her bike, bouncing on the trampoline, going out on the boat with her cousin and uncles, or just hanging out with family. She was happiest when she was with the people she loved, whether it was on a cruise, a family outing, or a quiet night watching movies. Halloween was her favorite holiday-she loved scary movies, spooky stories, and dressing up in costumes. Her favorite movie was Coraline, and she could watch it over and over again.

Aurora also had a soft spot for cats, a serious love for sushi, and a curiosity about the world that kept her always looking for something new to explore.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Andrea "Gran" Robbins; her paternal great-grandmother, Jean Beauchamp; and her paternal grandfather, Anthony "Pete" Hayward.

Aurora is survived by her parents, Antonio Hayward and Ashley Lewis; her paternal grandmother, Gail Hayward; maternal grandfather, Daniel Robbins and his wife, Trisha; and her G-Pop, Holland Lewis, Sr.

She is also survived by her ten siblings: Jaxyn Bernstein, Domnic Hayward, Aria Hayward, Jayden Hayward, Anthony Hayward, Alex Hayward, Karmyn Luffman, Jamison Luffman, Karson Luffman, and Kaleb Gordon. She leaves behind five uncles-Shawn Lewis, Mike Cooper, Daniel Robbins, Jr., Holland Lewis, Jr., and Anthony Hayward, Jr.; her aunt, Shanta Hayward; and many cousins, friends, and extended family who loved her dearly.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 12 PM to 2 PM at Melson's funeral home located at 38040 Muddy Neck rd Ocean View DE 19970. A funeral service will begin at 2 PM, followed by entombment at Granite Memorial Mausoleum in Bishopville, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Aurora's name to the Jesse Klump Suicide Awareness & Prevention Program at http://www.jessespaddle.org.

who remembers your name?
Who keeps your flame?
Who tells your story?"
