Ava Kali Simerl, of West Allis, WI, passed away peacefully on December 6th at 6:17pm in the presence of her mother, father, and boyfriend.
Ava spent nearly 3 months on the road traveling the United States after graduating high school. She was enrolled in school for phlebotomy and was scheduled to begin classes in January. She saw phlebotomy as a quick path to income and an opportunity to develop skills that would translate into nursing. Ava intended to continue her education to become a nurse. Ava loved the outdoors, hiking and fishing, and expressed her creativity through art. Her kindness, compassion, logic, and humor continue to inspire those who knew her. Ava was an organ donor whose gifts saved the lives of 5 people.
She is survived by her father, Orion Simerl, and her mother, Holly Gilgenbach. She is further survived by her grandma, Jill; her partner, Josh Loper; other family members, loving friends, her pet snake, and dog, Astro.
