Avo Earl Beard Walker, 83, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, passed away April 20, 2025, at Sequoyah Pointe Nursing Home in Tahlequah.
Mrs. Walker was born April 20, 1942, in Enterprise, Oklahoma, to the late John Henry Beard and Mennie Cora Alverson Beard. She graduated from Quinton High School and then attended college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where she received her bachelor's degree.
She worked as a case worker for the Department of Human Services in Cherokee County, before she retired.
Mrs. Walker loved to read and was a Baptist by faith.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gerald Walker, whom she married December 26, 1965, at Enterprise Baptist Church in Enterprise, Oklahoma; her son, Everett Walker of Newark, New York; grandchildren, Brian Walker, Kaylie McKendrick, and Brady Allan Walker, all of Newark, New York, Earl Bell of Texas, and Daniel Bell of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; her brother, Erdie Beard of Stidham, Oklahoma; her sister, Dean Eakle of Enterprise, Oklahoma; a special friend, Thomas Sanco; Bonnie Walker Stone, daughter-in-law, several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Beard and Mennie Cora Beard, a son, Allan Walker and three sisters, Hazel Basden, Jodie Purdom, and Bonnie Dimock.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, 4:00 - 6:00 PM, at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, 10:00 AM, in the Chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
