Avone "Black" Washington Harmon, beloved father, partner, and friend, passed away suddenly on June 5, 2025, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, Virginia. Born on January 3, 1959, in Nassawadox, Virginia, to the late Willie and Ruby Carter Harmon, Black's warmth and zeal for life touched many throughout his 66 years.
Black was a graduate of Central High School and furthered his education at Eastern Shore Community College before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Upon returning to civilian life, he dedicated 25 years to Old Mill Farms, where he was not only a committed farmer but also forged a close friendship with his boss, Dave Lovell. Black's dedication to his work, affability, and infectious laughter became well-known among his colleagues and throughout the community.
An avid sports fan, Black's spirit came alive watching the Green Bay Packers. He found joy in the thrill of the game and sharing this passion with friends and family. A fervent player of the lottery, Black's enthusiasm for scratch-offs was a charming quirk that entertained those around him. But above all else, Black was a man who lived life with a resolute intent to enjoy every moment, sharing laughter and creating memories with everyone he met.
For 30 years, he shared his life with his long-time partner, Sherry Bibbins, and together they navigated the adventures of life with love and mutual respect. He will be profoundly missed not just for the life he lived, but also for the lives he enriched along his journey.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his companion, Sherry Bibbins; two sons, Ketreyal Bibbins and Brandon Bibbins; granddaughter, Kendall Bibbins; nephews, Adrian L. Custis (Krystal) and Grover Harmon, Jr.; boss and dear friend, Dave Lovell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
