Awatef (Raad) Atiyeh, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 22 at home. She was the wife of the late Aziz Atiyeh. They were married for 50 years. A devoted wife and mother, she and Aziz built a family legacy full of love, commitment and sacrifice. Born in Amar, Syria, she was the daughter of the late Anis and Afifi (Haddad) Raad. She was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church, Allentown.
Survivors: Sons, Joseph and wife Sanaa of Amar, Syria, Omar and wife Lina of Weston, Florida, Victor and wife Elaine of Gresham, Oregon; daughters, Ghada Kassis of Bethlehem, Hweida Attieh and husband Albert of Whitehall, Aida Hadeed and husband Romeo of Whitehall; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Siblings; Munir Raad and wife Najwa of Amar, Syria, Atef Raad and wife Carol of Freeport, Bahamas, Munira Jacob of Allentown, and Genevieve
Haddad and husband Fouad of North Whitehall.
Awatef was pre-deceased by 2 grandsons, Daniel and Christopher Attieh, her son-in-law Salim Kassis and her brother-in-law Eli Jacob.
Condolences will be accepted on Tuesday, January 28th 5:00-8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 3231 Tilghman Street, Allentown, PA 18104. A service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 3231 Tilghman Street, Allentown, PA 18104 with entombment to follow at Grandview Cemetery, Allentown.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Saturday in the church. Kuhn Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Temple is honored to serve the Atiyeh family. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
