Axel A. Quiñones Sr., 64, of Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025 with his family at his side following a brief illness. Born in Morovis, Puerto Rico on May 15, 1961, he was the son of the late Jose Quiñones and Awilda Rosado Vasquez.
Proud of his heritage, Axel was always grateful for parents and his Spanish roots. He had a strong faith in God but also in helping others. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family, lastly working at Sticker Mule. He also enjoyed riding his Harley.
Always a bright light, he lived life to the fullest every day. He was always the life of the party, but also was always able to make you laugh or offer sage advice. Axel was devoted to his family, especially his children, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Axel Jr., Anthony, Derek, Marissa and Tatiana Quiñones; he was predeceased by Jesus Luis Homs; his siblings, Jeanette, Ivette, Victor, Jenny, Raymond and Maggie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 1p.m. at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY. Calling hours will be held prior to the services beginning at 11a.m. at the funeral home. All are invited to attend.
