Mrs. Axie Brown, age 66 of Barbourville, departed this life on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in the Hazard ARH Hospital. She was the wife of David Brown and the daughter of Golden and Edna Jordan, born to them on January 3, 1959.
Axie believed in the Baptist Faith and was a homemaker. She loved shopping and going to flea markets.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Golden and Edna Jordan and her siblings, Charles Jordan, Irma Jewell Messer and Nettie Smith.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her loving husband David Brown and her two sons, Charles Brown and wife Caitlin and David Dewayne Brown and wife Morgan all of Barbourville, her four grandchildren, Kerigan, Bishop and Matthew Cade, five brothers, Billy Ray Jordan and wife Joyce of Girdler, Orlon Jordan and wife Karen of Ohio, Tom Jordan and wife Darlene of Ohio, Anderson Jordan and Jacqueline of Barbourville, Kenny Bailey of Flat Lick and one sister, June Vanhook of Florida. She also leaves behind many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Axie will be conducted in the Hampton - Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 12:00 noon with Rev. Durry Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, William Messer, David Smith, Paul Jordan, Nick Jordan, Logan Messer, James Smith, Robert Jordan and Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Brown and David Brown.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday prior to the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
