Azure Skye, 66, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away in her sleep on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
She was born on September 7, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Charles and Barbara (Gordon) Pickett. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Jasmine Bush; sister, Honor Ali; and brother, Valor Pickett.
Azure lived passionately and cared deeply about her family, her friends, her animals, and each person she met. To know her was to know an opinionated, unique woman. A woman of conviction, she made it clear what music to listen to, how fast you should drive (Derreck), or what card you should play, She also made it clear how much she loved you.
If you ever spoke with her on the phone, you know she would laugh, cry, and debate with you for hours because she was invested in your life story and wanted to help you tell it. But talking to her in person, with her eye rolls or the intensity of her exclamations, was even better. She had a special way of connecting with children through storytelling and play, painting a picture with her creative descriptions and vivid imagination, and even doing voices to match.
She loved to travel and never knew a stranger. That is why she had so many friends, and why many of them were lifelong. Her warmth, originality, curiosity, and kindness were obvious to those who met her. From a young age, she stood up for what and who she believed in, whether that was her faith in God, her grandchildren, or the people she served in every job she held. Those who knew her will remember her laughter, her enthusiasm, and the unmistakable way she made them feel seen, supported, and loved.
Azure is survived by her loving children, Derreck Hughes (Leslie) and Scarlett Bush; three grandchildren: Quinton, Sona, and Rhythm; and siblings, Noble Pickett, April Zotecan-Ledford, and Merit Pickett (Mike Dennis). She is also survived by an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until the memorial service at 6:00 pm on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in Azure’s memory go towards Eluna, supporting youth and families impacted by grief or addiction.
