Belva Lorene McDavid was born on October 6, 1926, in Grayson, KY to Daniel Webster & Hazel Lorene (Parrish) McDavid, the youngest of 3 children. She married the love of her life, Paul Lee on October 6, 1944, in Raritan, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2020.
Lorene was a member of the Oak View Country Club, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal, Aledo Green Dragon and Mercer County Golden Eagle Fan. She enjoyed golfing, quilting and spending time with her family. She cherished being able to watch her children and grandchildren participate in sports up until this fall and take her boys out for breakfast on Saturday mornings. Lorene treasured the chaos that came with a large family and enjoyed all the kids running through the house and especially enjoyed when a new baby came, as she loved singing to them. Her favorite song to sing was “You Are My Sunshine”.
Upon moving to Brookstone, Lorene gained a new family with all the residents and staff at her new home. The girls at Brookstone (her CNA’s) were her favorites and she cherished their friendships. The activities at Brookstone were her favorite things to do, especially when she won at Bingo or got to go on a drive out to eat. The family appreciated all the care and love given to Lorene during her time at Brookstone and to Brenda Nelson for her extra care over the last few years.
Those left to cherish Lorene’s memory include her daughters: Delores (Mike) Varner of Aurora, CO; Paula (Dana) Frye of Bettendorf, IA; Jo (Herb) Wood of Colorado Springs, CO; sons: Jerry (Donna) Lee of Niwot, CO; Larry (Tina) Lee of Aledo, IL; Steve (Mike Simpson) Lee of Fallbrook, CA; Danny (Geneta) Lee of Aledo, Il; Jim (Linda) Lee of Chatham, IL; Rick (Tonia) Lee of Aledo, IL; Greg (Angie) Lee of LeGrand, IA; Mark (Carol) Lee of Wildwood, MO; Scott (Debbie) Lee of Chatham, IL; Patrick Lee of Parker, CO; 40 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Ernest Knustrom; 2 brothers, Earl and Jack McDavid; a daughter in infancy, Theresa Lee; daughter and son-inlaw, Kay & Larry Teel; and 2 grandchildren: Kristin Lee and Brady Teel.
