BARBARA JORDAN APPLE

APPLE, Barbara Jordan, 73, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on October 8, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Hubert Apple Jr.; son, David B. Apple; her father, Fitzhugh Franklin Jordan; and her mother, Helen Alcox Jordan. Survivors include her sons, Darren W. Apple and Daniel R. Apple and his wife, Sandra S. Apple; four grandchildren, Jenifer Apple Hinton, Cari Apple-Karr, Bryan T. Apple and Christian L. Apple; and five great-grandchildren, Elliot D. Hinton, Patrick R. Hinton, Thomas A. Hinton, Lucas S. Adams and Easton Karr; her loving aunt, Louise Layne; and special friend, Chrissy Reill. Mrs. Apple assisted her husband with the founding of Apple Door Systems, Inc. in 1973. Her Christian faith was paramount in her life. The center of her life revolved around her husband and children. One of her favorite pastimes was playing gospel hymns on her piano. She played note perfect without the ability to read music. During the last several years, Mrs. Apple was stricken with Parkinson's Disease which caused her to lose her mobility and ability to speak, but not her wit, charm and grace. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10 at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road. Funeral services will be held at the same location 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11. Interment Dale Memorial Park.
