It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Barbara Kay Ashabranner (nee Appleman) of Saint Peters, Missouri on March 1, 2025, at the age of eighty-four. Her love, patience, kindness, and generosity will be greatly missed.
Barbara was born April 19, 1940 in Bucyrus, Ohio and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating high school, she served two years in the Women's Army Corps. She met and fell in love with Cecil Ashabranner, who was also serving. They wed November 12, 1960 and were married sixty-four years at the time of her passing.
Barbara and Cecil lived in Maryland, Alabama, Connecticut, and Florida before settling permanently in Saint Peters in 1969. Barbara worked at the Fort Zumwalt High School cafeteria for over two decades. She was a longstanding and fervent member of the Church of Christ.
In her free time, Barbara enjoyed reading, watching old movies and staying in touch with friends and family on Facebook.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Cecil, her sister, Joyce Bolinger (Glen), her children David, Becky, Glen (Wendy), and Rick (Irene), and her grandchildren Brendan (Emma), Megan, Corey, Anna, Kaden, Austin and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lois (Kramer) Appleman, her brother, Brian Appleman and her son, Gary.
Memorials may be made in Barbara's name to the donor's choice.
